Abstract

This report aims to explore and analyze the interactions between flooding and hydropower operation in the Bagmati region of Nepal, where recurrent floods exacerbated by climate change pose severe risks for critical infrastructure and communities around them. This report aims to understand a disaster that occurred in central Nepal in September 2024 from the point of view of hydropower operators and asks what implications the disaster had on hydropower operations, how they managed the situation, and how they are preparing for future floods. This work was completed as a study project as part of the Sustainable Global Technologies (SGT) Studio course in 2025.
