Abstract
Bridges are important structures used worldwide to create connections and increase transportation efficiency. The role performed by bridges in society has become so critical that the risk of collapse or failure could cause an economical, operational, and human tragedy. Consequently, the continuous assessment of bridges and their capacity to support loads is essential to ensure safety and prevent failures. The aim of this thesis is to develop an assessment of the current methods applied when estimating the load capacity of bridges by conducting a state-of-the-art review and providing final recommendations on the most appropriate method.Description
